SANANTONIOOVERVIEW

Welcome to San Antonio, the ninth largest city in the United States.

San Antonio is truly a city that provides an attractive and competitive business climate and enviable quality of life with sufficient water and energy resources to meet the needs of businesses and residents well into the future. Our community is strategically located along the NAFTA corridor with a superb and efficient transportation network that includes three major connecting interstate highways, rail lines running east-west and north-south and three complementary aviation facilities. With a skilled workforce of over 750,000, our city continues to leverage innovative partnerships with our local military installations, private industry and international businesses.

For San Antonio's economy, this is a time of historic opportunity, growth, and transition. The City's primary focus is on building sustainable relationships that support continued economic growth and diversification in the targeted industries of aerospace/aviation; information technology; bio-technology; telecommunications; logistics & transportation; manufacturing; and tourism. Toyota's recent selection of San Antonio as the site for its fifth North American automotive manufacturing plant further marks San Antonio as a national and international center for research, design, production, manufacturing, and distribution of a diverse portfolio of goods and services.

San Antonio is also emerging as a leader in the rapid development of the emerging new industry of Homeland Security and Preparedness. San Antonio possesses a unique combination of resources and assets that are playing a major role in this new growth industry, drawing from the community's existing assets, particularly in information security and the biosciences. San Antonio is indeed a 21st Century business pacesetter, as best captured by Fujio Cho, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation, when he stated, "San Antonio is a City of the Future."
